Tenor GIF Search for Twitter/X

A lightweight Tampermonkey userscript that replaces Twitter/X's native GIF system with a fully custom, client-side Tenor GIF search popover.

This userscript runs 100% client-side and does not require any local backend server. It dynamically scrapes the active Web API credentials from the Tenor website to ensure continuous, uninterrupted access even after the official developer API deprecation on June 30, 2026.

  • 100% Client-Side Operation: Queries Tenor directly via Tampermonkey's cross-origin capabilities (GM_xmlhttpRequest), bypassing all CORS blockages.

  • Automatic 15MB Upload Protection: Twitter/X enforces a strict 15MB media limit. The script automatically checks the size of the original GIF and falls back to compressed formats (mediumgif or tinygif) if it exceeds the limit, ensuring your GIF always uploads successfully.
  • Keyboard Shortcut Override: Captures and blocks key events (keypress, keydown, keyup with e.stopPropagation()) in the search input so that typing doesn't trigger Twitter's global hotkeys (like opening new composers or navigating).
  • Infinite Scrolling: Automatically fetches and appends the next page of GIFs as you scroll down the picker.
  • Programmatic File Injection: Fetches the selected GIF as a blob and injects it directly into Twitter's file upload system using the HTML5 DataTransfer API.
